"Stolen Honor" Showing Canceled Due to Threats to Theatre
Self

Posted on 10/19/2004 4:46:44 PM PDT by Scarpetta

I just came from the Baederwood Theatre in Abington, PA where "Stolen Honor" was to be shown to an expected full-house. Upon arrival I was told that the theatre canceled the show due to called in threats of violence.

There were about 100 people milling around outside the theatre, mostly Bush supporters, when I arrived. The Bushies were rightly indignant that we couldn't see the film and the sKerry supporters were almost gleeful in their posturing.

One "vet for Kerry" was getting in the faces of many of the Bush supporters, and had to be separated by the police more than once. There were three television news crews recording the skirmishes between the two camps, and reporters jotting down their stories.

The filmmaker, Carlton Sherwood, was there and gave on-camera interviews. The reporters also took about a dozen interviews from both sides of the fence.

There was about a dozen "Vets For Kerry" there, most of them wearing uniforms. I noticed the cops making faces to them as if to say "aren't these Bush supporters a bunch of wankers?" There was one young man (about 19) holding a sign "jingoism doesn't work." Talk about a wanker.

The "Stolen Honor" people handed out DVDs and videos to anyone who wanted one.

This will be a big story on the local news tonight because of all of the heated arguments captured on film. For all in the Delaware Valley viewing area, Channel 6 News stuck around the longest. I'll post any articles from the local papers tomorrow.

How is this different from that tactics of the Brownshirts in Germany, circa 1934?

You know...things could really get ugly before - and after - this election. Frightening.

I heard Don Giordano on radio 1210 say yesterday that the cancellation was because of an impending lawsuit.

Appeasement again. Is this theatre owned by Spain?

Anti-Kerry Film Withdrawn From Abington Movie Theater
Delaware Professor Threatens Lawsuit

ABINGTON, Pa. -- A film about Sen. John Kerry's Vietnam War years brought controversy to the Delaware Valley Tuesday.

Stolen Honor title"Stolen Honor" was due to play at the Baederwood Theater in Abington, Pa., Tuesday night and it was a sellout. But, citing possible civil disobedience and a threatened lawsuit, the theater's owner decided not to show the controversial film.

Carlton Sherwood is a journalist and the producer of "Stolen Honor." His is also the object of a civil suit filed by a University of Delaware professor, Dr. Kenneth Campbell. Campbell is a Vietnam veteran who says he is defamed in the movie.

"They've made him, who is an academician, an honest guy, who has been there, done that, all that kind of stuff and claim he is a fraud and never stood foot on the battlefield, who was making things up on the stuff. Dr. Campbell is not going to stand for it, nor am I," said James Beasley, Campbell's attorney.

Beasley said that in the movie, a voiceover covering film shot in 1971 when Campbell is seen as part of a veterans group protesting the war, the narration reads "they never set foot on the battlefield, or left the comfort of the states or even served in uniform."

Campbell said that he almost lost his life in Vietnam, and that is why he filed the lawsuit and threatened a lawsuit against the movie theater if the movie played there.

One woman came to the theater puzzled and angry, asking why she can't see the movie that day.

"Because John Kerry doesn't want you to see the movie. He doesn't want you to see any of this. This is a story he did not want America to see," Sherwood told the woman.

Sherwood showed up at the Baederwood Theater Tuesday and said that if the movie doesn't play, he will hand out DVD copies.

"This is all part of a smear campaign. This is all part of an effort to censor and to silence these POWs who have tried for decades, for decades now, to have one hour, just one hour to tell their story," Sherwood said.

Abington police said that they were never concerned about the possibility of civil disobedience because of the showing of the movie.

More publicity makes more people curious. This is good.

I think this will backfire as well. Let the viewing public see the fascists for who they are.

"The Facsist Left strikes another blow..."

My thought exactly. Democrats, fascists, terrorists...synonyms.

I’ve mentioned it before – I knew a guy that could vomit at will. He’d sort of look like he was concentrating really hard for about two seconds, then he’d puke.

I’ve often thought that that’d come in handy. Lots of times.

It should get ugly after this election! This has been equal to a mutiny in this country and if Kerry is elected it will be a mandate for these ugly liberals to continue their treasonous and seditious behavior.
