Bombadil isn't Aule... I don't think Tolkien, as a good Catholic, would ever have attempted to put a character who is, well, God the Father, into his story.

Bombadil isn't Aule... I didn't say that, we were talking about the article in which someone else said that. I disagreed.
And Aule isn't the one that was the equivalent of God the Father. Though he is the one who created dwarves in rebellion against Iluvatar. Iluvatar, Eru, was Tolkien's God the Father guy. :-)
