The Hobbit Hole IV – The Road Goes Ever On…
Posted on 08/04/2003 9:43:18 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
The Road Goes Ever On
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

What is it with those French writers?
Have you ever read any Victor Hugo? (Well...of course you have, but...) He fits about three history texts in with his novel...dull, dry stuff at that. PLUS lots and lots of description. It's why Les Miserables weighs about ten pounds.
The paperback edition, that is...
To: JenB; RosieCotton
here's a name for you, "Marcel Proust". French author, writer of probably the most time-consuming waste of spaces ever printed. Read about two pages of one of his 'books' and see what you get out of it. The Summarize Proust Competition!

Though I admit I DID read Les Mis cover to cover and enjoyed most of it very much...so I can't complain too much.

Roger that. It is true that rock lasts far longer than concrete. I don't wanna be looking at any new bulkhead work in 20 or 30 years. By then I'll be old and crochetey. I'll have bigger problems than needing a new bulkhead. That's for sure... :-)
To: ecurbh
YES!
SOMEONE has seen that sketch! I have spoken to literally a dozen Monty Python fans, and none of them have seen that! And it's one of my favorite sketches ever!

IMHO, you can't really call yourself Monty Python fan and not have seen The Summarize Proust Competition sketch.

To: JenB; ecurbh
Uh... OK.
To: ecurbh
Exactly! It's one of the best!
So... who's bringing the Monty Python to EntMoot?

Yes, will have plenty of snacks with me, along with most of my worldly possessions in the car, so that should make for a pretty good survival kit. Will keep cell phone charged too.

That would be most excellent... my parents quit being MP fans when they had kids. We're still not "supposed" to watch it...
Anyway, I'm going to bed now.

Well, there's progress on that front. My Flat Frodo at Yellowstone pictures are finally on MY computer. Well, I have my photos uploaded to York... I just gotta get the thing written down and posted. Sounds easy. But, I haven't done it yet. Hopefully, this week.... but HEY, who cares, the webmaster won't be there anyway!
