BSA's were hard to get parts for when they were new. Never owned one but rode a few. Good bikes. Ever ride a Norton?

nope but I knwo one that has a history...
seems the guy who taught me how to ride sold me his BSA (my second) lightening. He had been lusting after this Norton 750 commando of a pal's for several years. the poor chap had to sell it to him to get out of jail. Seems the Norton's tailpipes rake upward at a slight angle, which figures into our tale.
The two of them were hoisting a wee cup or two in a RI club one fine summer eve when they got into a bit of a scuffle with other patrons. They exited the place to ride off into the sunrise, but.... well when a guy has a few wee cups of nasty RI beer, a natural reaction occurs. And this guy sought releif onthe rear tire of his Norton. Apparently much of the byproduct of this release wound up in the tailpipe, unbeknownst to the two rather innoculated gentlemen.
At this point RI's finest make their entreance. They ask the guys, who are mounting their metallic steeds to resume their cruise. The guys cannot honestly recall anything untoward hapenning inthe club, and are about to leave when the Norton fires up. Mind you the cop was shall we say "downwind"?
Wiping his eyes from the byproduct of that earlier evacuation that had pooled inside of those downward sloping pipes and had exited rapidly in a generally upwarsd direction with help from the newly ignited 750 Norton engine onto the hapless gendarme...
his next words sealed their doom "I think I found the guys I'm looking for"...
So Randy had to seell his Norton, and Bo was only too happy to get it. I bought Bo's BSA and that was almost it, except for when the city cops decided to pick on Bo and his new bike. they pulled him over and gafve him a ticket for a broken taillight. Bo got hot and raced off - into a phone pole. the cops had to hurry up and clean the taillight fragments off the road.
Bo and the Norton were totalled, and I eventually sold the BSA.
