Sure I respect your opinion and if this was some actor or pop star lib I wouldn't bother very much either because the chance of having an effect would be very small. It's just that in this case the odds are with us for having a very significant effect on their career. That's why I'm gung-ho on this one. It IS making a difference. Many of the stations already onboard the boycott are Clear Channel stations which is the biggest owner of radio stations in the country. If we can get corporate onboard and I think their is a good chance of that since corps are weasels and hate being the target of controversy then these girls' careers in Country music are over.

"I DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF AN ORGANIZED BOYCOTT, IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A RESPONSE THAT RESPECTS FREEDOM OF SPEECH YA KNOW, FREEDOM DOES INCLUDE NOT BEIN RIGHT AND STILL GETTIN TO HAVE YER SAY SO."

That's absurd. Nobody here is saying the Ditzy Chicks can't spew their liberal drivel. A boycott of their music is our way of sending them a message. It's just another form of "free speech".

I do not like or rather hate what she said. She as a US citizen has the right to say what she wants. We have to remember we would not be able to protest like we are doing in any other country. No I do not plan on buying any of their CD's or going to their concert's. However, it is said and done, and I am going to let it go. The more hoopla we do the more publicity they receive, and that just makes her statement heard that much more. I agree let it go.

Actually the name comes from my being the newest class of migrant worker in the US. The white male 30 something migrant tech worker who can't get a full time job because they are all filled by affirmative action hirees and instead travel around doing contract gigs doing the actual work that the permanent emplyees can't handle. It's a modern day Grapes of Wrath. All my co-workers are in the same boat.

BushCountry.org has begun a boycott as well. Check out this terrific article they have on their site. They have a link to the Dixie Chicks messageboard that was taken down because they were receiving so much hate mail! Anyway, check out their article. Its about half way down the home page at http://www.bushcountry.org The article title is called:

"Dixie Chicks" Anti-War Comments Cause Removal of Message Board Link From Home Page

Oh, here is the link they give to the Dixie Chicks messageboard:

Emailed Clear Channel public relations...Requesting that their stations do not give airtime to artists that insult the President of the United States while performing on foreign soil!

you should have sent this to Bill O'Reilly of the The O'Reilly factor on fox news. He always has something to say about stuff like this.

I'll boycott WCOl whenever I visit the Columbus area (which is often due to family). I was never a huge fan of their station. Have you also contacted the mainstream radio stations such as WNCI and asked them as well? If you can get a major radio station in the Colubus area to boycott the dixie chicks, WCOL will realize they are losing listeners and hopefully change their tune.

I agree, but by the same token I think Neil Young, Sheryl Crow and several other artists should be held to the same fire. I know country fans are largely very supportive of the President so it stings a little more but we shouldn't let the rest of these liberals off the hook. I just wish "artists" wouldn't use their celebrity to shove their opinions down people's throats. They have a right to free speech granted but they also have an unfair advantage to exploit their free speech. WVNan's Son Roy.
