Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

They don't seem the musical instrument type though. The dwarves who showed up at Bilbo's door certainly were:

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek the pale enchanted gold.
The dwarves of yore made mightly spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.
For ancient king and elvish lord
There many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sward.
On silver necklaces they strung
The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon-fire, in twisted wire
They meshed the light of moon and sun.
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeouns deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day,
To claim our long-forgotten gold.
Goblets they carved there for themselves
And harps of gold; where no man delves
There lay they long, and many a song
Was sung unheard by men or elves.
The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night,
The fire was red, it flaming spread;
The trees like torches blazed with light.
The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale;
The dragon's ire more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail.
The mountain smoked beneath the moon;
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled their hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.
Far over the misty mountains grim
To dungeons deep and caverns dim
We must away, ere break of day,
To win our harps and gold from him!
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day,
To find our long-forgotten gold.

Golden Globe nominations are
posted.
TTT received nominations for Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Director-Motion Picture. No actors were nominated and, to my surprise, Howard Shore was overlooked for Best Original Score-Motion Picture

Hehehe....not to mention
Smasht the dishes and crack the plates.
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!
To: ksen
Any word from LCS? It's at awards time that I really miss him!

According to the Colin Powell Live Press Conference Thread... Colin Powell has just said the Saddam Hussein is in material breach.

They'll hem and haw until February. Then we'll attack.

Sigh...

They'll go before February (only my opinion)... but there will be some delay to finish getting the troops up. Reserves were called up yesterday.

I have heard mention of a chat, but I have no idea what or where it is. ?

Hmm, it's disturbing how many of those fit me. It is tempting to counterflame one of their (whoever they are) threads with variants on "dumb jock". But from what I saw at the theater the entire spectrum of Americana was represented and standing in line. It was really cool to see that all those wildly different people had a common interest.

I teach in a 2 year college. Technical campus. It's a very small campus but I like it so far.

So it seems! :)
In The Hobbit (written version) did the dwarves actually whip out some instruments or was it all in song?

Colin Powell has just said the Saddam Hussein is in material breach. So it begins.

Chat is in the Yahoo Hobbit Hole. I'm not sure when the next "official" one is. I've visited a few impromptu ones.
One of the Hole Dwellers I've pinged should be able to help you gain access.
To: ksen
That is a surprise.... that there are no actor nominations or a score nomination. what can we say?
To: Lil'freeper
I saw all kinds of people yesterday and they better represent the tue LoTR fans.
The group at the sneak peek was just as eclectic, but I found that some of them were just folks who got lucky and won the AOL sweeps without really being that interested in LoTR. But then again, they had to be interested enough to stay up past midnight on a work night. :)

Colin Powell has just said the Saddam Hussein is in material breach. I pray the invasion will be be quick and that innocent American and Iraqi lives will be safe. I also hope we don't end up spending the next 50-100 years there.
We still have troops in the Philippines, Korea, Germany, and the Balkans. :-(
