We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks in New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
Now, the cleanup. More than 1.5 million people remain without electricity in North Carolina this morning.
Algore visited China recently, and it is believed he was paid to speak at a communist government-linked think tank. People could pay 50,000 yuan to get their picture taken with Algore, or 100,000 yuan to buy conference sponsorship packages.
Algore claims he was paid by BusinessWeek to attend the event: "I can tell you specifically our contract says DnmStrategies for BusinessWeek," says Jano Cabrera, spokesman for Algore, as reported by Drudge.
Drudge also reports that Nancy Sheed, spokeswoman for BusinessWeek, says: "This was not an official BusinessWeek-sponsored event. We did not pay any of the participants in the event. We did not pay any of the speakers at the event. BusinessWeek was also not aware that anybody had been invited on behalf of BusinessWeek to speak at the event."
Algore also attended an informal lunch on November 18 with approximately 30 members of the Asia society, sponsored by Hong Kong chairman Mr. Chan. Chan was an independent director of ENRON. Algore knew of Chan's relationship with ENRON because a source said he "told him before we went into the lunch."
Algore may be the master of reinvention, but he does not seem to have reinvented his pechant for Chinese money.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Mr HOB and I really need to move to an area where there is lots of snow. We get to apoint when it becomes a longing to have snow.
But, to set the proper mood, we'd need a real, working fireplace! LOL!!
If for some reason I miss you before the holidays - hope you have a great one!
To: Holding Our Breath
Sheesh! I give up!

It's obviously worse than I thought if they are advocating violence. And I agree that they should not be allowed at Free Republic and perhaps more monitoring needs to be going on.
I would like to really figure some of those guys out. Perhaps some of them are people who have a lot of resentment, would never act on it, but this forum gives them a chance to say and express things with perceived anonymity and lack of consequences.
I'm sure you'd agree that no matter what their motivation is, whether they are serious about their threats or just expressing deep-seated resentment, they should not be allowed to post those threats without suffering the consequences for such inappropriate posts.

We had a field trip today. Went to an asian market. They had durians there, but the smell wasn't very strong, maybe because they were cold. I didn't get one because of the price, but I did think of you.

Oh, I could go for a nice durian right now.
We just had our Christmas Holiday Party, but because I'm back on Atkins, I couldn't eat much.
I played three songs on the dulcimer and harmonica and got a lot of nice compliments and a good round of applause.

Oh, and I almost had a heart attack after I got home. My mobile phone rang, and I didn't recognise the number. When I answered, it was my commander calling personally. Talk about an adrenaline rush! LOL! He had some paperwork issues with finance about me that they are trying to resolve.
My big fear is that they will call me up before the 13th, and I'll have to take this horribly boring module over again.

OK John, let's remind our readers what we're talking about. Here's a mouth-watering pic for all the durian lovers lurking in our midst.
To: Mr. Mulliner
Do durians ever turn red? When I was in Las Vegas last month, a Chinese couple on the table next to us loaded up on fruit that looked exactly like that, only red.
To: Holding Our Breath
Thanks HOB, you too!

Not that I have been notified of yet. ;>) I'm hoping the Iraq thing waits until at least the 13th, so I don't have to retake the class I'm in. It's a month of some really boring food science and safety.
After that, a deployment would actually help me financially, since I don't have any income now. I could continue to pay for school while deployed, and return to class when I get back.

Well, here's hoping all works out to your advantage! I'm just waiting for the boys here to get done so we can hit the bar. If they EVER get done...

It striked me that there are some foods that have to be labeled "food" before I would eat it. That is one. LOL!
To: W.
W., if I don't cross your path before the end of the month...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
To: Molly Pitcher
Tomorrow night, sheesh, I missed it by a week last week.
To: Miss Marple
The same back at ya! Not to mention all my friends here! {And that--fruit--looks like something you could beat an enemy right bloody with, har!]

Three things you NEVER should do. 1. NEVER trust a used car salesman. 2. NEVER stay in a motel with vacancy painted on the side wall and, 3. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER vote for a democract. My daddy taught me this when I was a wee tot, his advice for success.
