The Guild - 7-20-02 - A Clandestine Weekend
The Spy Museum ^ | July 20, 2002

Posted on 07/20/2002 6:32:59 AM PDT by mountaineer

Ever thought you had an aptitude for espionage? A hankering for the cloak and dagger life? In honor of the opening of the International Spy Museum, we present Clandestine Weekend at the Ladies' Investigative Guild. Digging up dirt on the Clintons' looting of the White House, after all, is how we got our start. The museum opened its doors (or trapdoors, as the case may be) Friday (story here).

On display there is something we all could use:

The KGB created the "Kiss of Death" -- a loaded gun that looked like tube of lipstick. This 4.5 mm single shot weapon easily could be hidden in a purse. This pistol was discovered during the Cold War at a border crossing into West Berlin.

When shall I drop by BWB? I have to go to Naples in September. I realize that isn't exactly close to you but I could be drawn up your way with such tasty treats!

they fall overboard in the night while taking a leak - they are found with their male member outside the "play" area, to speak.

Pray tell. Where did you come across this valuable piece of information? LOL.

That's why I love this place. You learn something new everyday. Not necessarily useful type stuff, but stuff, none the less.

I am struggling attempting to figure out how I can work this new knowledge into a conversation.

You come on by anytime! If you come around the 7th we'll be having a birthday party for our granddaughter. And you are very welcome to attend. We're hoping to have a pool party. Hoping is the operative word there!

I promised to find a pic of the kind of boat my dad used to have. His was a Fisher 25'. The only pic I found was of a Fisher 30'. The only real difference was cabin on his wasn't painted white. They kind of look like a tug boat with sails. If I remember correctly, dad told me they're made in England where the seas are very rough, so they're built tough.

I stayed up abnormally late last night. I was watching the REAL James Bond, Timothy Dalton, in The Living Daylights, and then a very strange but compelling movie American Psycho.

But that is not the point.

The point is that there is a new commercial out from the DC travel council. It has all sorts of politicians singing a song about America, Daschle and Lott, McCain and Gephart.... and at the very end, we see LAURA BUSH singing on the balcony of the White House residence. Yes, Laura was singing!!!

It's really cute. I hope you all get to see it. I saw it on TBS.

I am shallow, I would marry Geraldo for his boat and make sure I have to go on a lot of business trips away from that ' fabulous' Trump Tower apartment.

I highly recommend Allegro Hot & Spicy with your lemmings, etc.
It is as highly recommended as Johnny's Garlic Magic.

HLL - believe it or no, I've seen the DC ad. Anything with Laura is great - anything with the dim/libs is still awful.

Just wanted to put in a good word for the original Joy of Cooking cookbook. The new version does not hold a candle to the original, IMO....

My apologies in advance for posting this....

This is a lovely photo but very unrealistic. As many of us know, and have related here, geese are very mean and usually attack humans. Guess he has no food on him. Oh I have an idea, let us get Carville in that photo with a bag of cookies and then enjoy all those geese attacking him....hee hee

James Carville is an Oxygen Thief.

Now, now, you're not being very generous. I believe the proper expression is "waste of skin."

Oh bleah. Remember a few days ago when I posted snippets about Clinton's appearance at Universal Studios chief Lew Wasserman's memorial service, and how he gushed about how LW was responsible for getting and keeping him in office, blah blah blah? Here's more:

According to one source who attended the service, Mr. Clinton said that it was probably a good thing that his wife, New York Senator Hillary Clinton, had been detained on Capitol Hill working, "since Lew’s money helped put her in the job." He also joked that "under full disclosure, Lou and his wife Edie stayed overnight at the White House. That was when you could still have friends stay there." NY Observer

What a crock. Clinton doesn't have any friends, only co-conspirators.

At the end he thanks GWB and the credits begin by thanking Karen Hughes for being the only one who took him seriously and gave him a chance to get started.

Hmmm. Betty, do you happen to know if this boy is homeschooled? That may be why Karen Hughes DID take him seriously; she was homeschooling her son on the campaign trail!

I found this article on anti-jen's profile page about American and United Airlines' reactions to the hijackings on 9/11. They ordered their own planes to land as soon as they realized what was happening, then the FAA followed suit with ALL airlines. It was VERY interesting!http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/553396/posts

From my many sailing magazines. Mainly Ocean Navigator, which has excellent follow-ups to sailing accidents. It is in my opinion, one of the most informative sailing mags out there.

We get all the Coast Guard stuff - they have a brother mag, Professional Mariner, which I took for a year for some reason - it is all about commercial boating, but they did an excellent article on all the tugs and ferrys that went to Ground Zero on September 11th to move people off, then to move equipment and supplies into the area.

We learn all about the barges that hit bridges, sailing boats that get run down on the ocean by the great big container ships (most of which who have foreign crews who don't speak english and DON'T stop when they run down a boat - many don't even know they've hit something - mainly because they aren't watching their radar closely).

Of course we learn navigation and sailing tips and the usual stuff you find in sailing mags.
