With just over three weeks left before early voting, Democratic U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico on Thursday challenged his GOP opponent Ken Paxton to a debate moderated by Fox News’ Bret Baier.
“Texans deserve to make an informed choice in this really critical race, so I’m challenging Ken Paxton to a game on his own turf,” Talarico said during an interview at The Texas Tribune Festival. “He’s been running from accountability his whole life. It’s time to stop running.”

Why would Talarico debate Paxton with the commanding lead that he has?
The leading candidate never initiates the debate.
Why would he challenge Paxton if he was indeed “leading in the polls”? Exactly. He wouldn’t.
Because that lead is push-polling MSM garbage?

Brent Baier? That same Brent Baier who sabotaged President Trump in the 2020 election by holding a Digital Townhall from the Lincoln Memorial. From about 2000 submitted videos he and Martha McCallum chose IIRC 22. All but three were anti-Trump speeches followed by a gotcha question. After Trump gave his response, either Martha or Brett looked down at the papers they had prepared to rebut President Trump’s answer. Martha and Brett had chosen the videos so they knew exactly what was going to be in them and had a rebuttal ready.
There were two neutral questions and one pro Trump. I’ve never forgotten it. I cannot stand snarky condescending Brett Baier.

Maybe Talarico has internal polling that shows he isn’t in the lead.
MSM polls have been well known to lie - remember Hillary had a “90% chance of winning in 2016” - the morning of the election. She went on to lose, of course (and thank God).
And there was that msm poll that put Kamala Harris in the lead in Iowa the weekend before the election - a state Trump won by 13 points.
More like Paxton will never debate Talarico, this is his third opportunity to say yes.
