I Read somewhere here on FR that Presidents at one time did pardon state crimes. President Trump did Pardon Tina Peterson and the Colorado Governor followed by Pardoning or communing her sentence. This probably means that he and the Ds did not want a challenge of the pardon being sent to the SC.

Trump pardoned Petersen of any possible following federal charges. So he could in theory do the same here. But it doesn’t change Clancy’s current situation at all.

The Tina Peters thing was odd. Trump did “pardon” her, but it was a symbolic gesture. It had no force in law, and everybody knew it. As noted earlier, a president cannot pardon a state crime.

But Trump’s “pardon” did have value, as it brought attention to how badly she was treated.
