Zohran Mamdani got elected in NYC so I disagree with your strategy. Big difference in winning a mayoral race in one city vs. a statewide race. Even in NYC, the turnout for mayoral elections is dismal. They are also 'off-year' elections that do not coincide with any federal elections.

Hellavu difference between a deep blue commie city and a red state that voted for Trump three times. Detroit (Dearborn, Hamtramck) will vote blue in a city race but a muzzie candidate will not win statewide.
