I dispute that!
1. At the 2015 World Conference of Science Journalists in Seoul, Sir Tim Hunt, the British biochemist and 2001 Nobel Laureate for Physiology or Medicine, made remarks presented as humorous - including that women in labs "fall in love with you," "you fall in love with them," and "when you criticize them, they cry."
Pretty harmless, heh?
These comments triggered immediate backlash, widespread media coverage, and his resignation from several positions. The financial loss, alone (to say nothing of the public embarrassment and loss in reputation) could be estimated at tens of thousands of dollars.
2. At PyCon 2013, two male developers were sitting in the audience making jokes involving the words “dongle” and “forking” — both legitimate technical terms, but used in a way a nearby attendee, Adria Richards, perceived as sexual innuendo. Richards took a photo of the men, posted it on Twitter, and commented that their behavior was inappropriate. The tweet went viral almost immediately.
One of the men was fired by his employer, PlayHaven, after being identified from the photo.
And shall we also talk about false / obviously baseless rape allegations which can ruin a man's reputation (see the 2006 Duke U. men's lacrosse team scandal)?
Etc., etc.
I will freely admit that it has not yet reached "Holocaust" proportions - but it should be obvious to all those who have eyes to see that grave injustices are being perpetrated on a system-wide level.
Battling bullying in school might not raise that same level of push-back, but my point is made.
alexander_busek: For the third time: I am not qualified to comment upon that!
You: You're the one who replied to my point on that. Why comment on a point and then say you can't?
I didn't "comment" on it. Rather, I mentioned it, so that you wouldn't think that I had accidentally overlooked it or was trying to "skirt" the issue. I mentioned it only to clarify that I was not qualified - that's the sincere thing to do, right?
Regards,
But for the sake of argument, let's say they were relevant to my point. How does any of it compare to what happened to MLK.
And shall we also talk about false / obviously baseless rape allegations which can ruin a man's reputation (see the 2006 Duke U. men's lacrosse team scandal)?
In this instance, the men fought back, AND WON!!! We need more of this, instead of the whipped capitulation we usually see.

OK, I'll go for that.
