I’m not downplaying your experience, I’m just trying to find out why—nationwide—the marriage rate started going down after 1946. We all know it’s women’s fault (somehow, always). I’m just trying to find out what women were doing wrong even in the 1950s.

I’m just trying to find out what women were doing wrong even in the 1950s.it probably declined after 1946 because it was at an all time high in the years immediately after the war. It really couldn't have gotten much higher or even stayed at that level.
Marriage rates were historically high in the 1950s and 1960s.

1946 was the first full year after WW2. It was likely that it was a pent up demand bump.
