Not sure these were domestic kitchen knives as modern people would understand them. When meat was eaten throughout most of ancient times it was served in chunks,taken by hand and ripped apart and chewed by teeth. Good teeth were essential. In ancient Rome teeth rotted early. The Roman army marched on biscuits and bread soaked in wine or water. Also it was difficult to preseve meat in those times.
