House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi have effectively withdrawn their support for Rep. Eric Swalwell and called on him to end his campaign for California governor.Following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Both Jeffries and Pelosi joined a growing list of Democrats calling on Swalwell to abandon his gubernatorial bid.Pelosi’s Statement: Pelosi stated, “This extremely sensitive matter must be appropriately investigated with full transparency and accountability,” adding that she told Swalwell this should be done “outside of a gubernatorial campaign”.

Jeffries and other House Democratic leaders called for a “swift investigation” and declared the allegations, which include claims from a former aide, as “unacceptable”.

Other Defections: Longtime allies including Senator Adam Schiff and Representative Jimmy Gomez (who was his campaign co-chair) withdrew their endorsements, with Gomez calling on him to leave the race.

Fundraising Halt: ActBlue, the major Democratic fundraising platform, stopped accepting donations for his campaign.
