Japan has been an excellent ally for 75 years.

I see no reason to shame and antagonize them.

It’s part of a negotiating tactic to get their help opening the Strait of Hormuz. 100% guaranteed to work.

“ I see no reason to shame and antagonize them.”

Did you watch the conversation?

And by watch, I mean not just attempting to shame and antagonize me with ‘of course I watched it what’s wrong with you?”

I mean did you watch the whole conversation?

Because, maga as reported by enter today is 100% behind Trump. You can take that as 100% sick of knee jerk ‘Trump is wrong’ without even looking at the situation

The Europeans deserve this treatment. Not the Japanese.

I don’t see that as shaming any one.

The point is an obvious one about operational security and one that any listener fully understood.

If you watch the clip, Trump gave a respectful answer about the need for surprise in the attack. It was not to shame anybody but just to state what everybody knows about how you have to do war.

The reporter tried to shame America and got his comeuppance, “shaming Japan” has nothing to do with it.

Yeah it was a strange comment by Trump.

“Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor?”
The obvious answer is
“... Because neither one of us was born yet?”

I don’t think Trump was intentionally shaming anyone except for maybe the reporter. It is actually a very accurate answer.

yes, and this PM is a big supporter of Trump’s policies. Unwise to embarrass her publicly like that.

Japan did plan on delivering a message of declaration of war, but Roosevelt already knew, so he slept. His reasoning was, a sneak attack plays better than admitting the US was already at war in China, and had cut off supplies Japan needed. Rubber, oil etc.

My Dad was wounded fighting the Japanese and island hopping with Australian forces. He was my hero, but FDR was a prick and sane people knew it at the time.
