A league commissioner's job isn’t easy, as they constantly search for resolutions on an array of issues.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr, before the team’s 119-116 loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday at Delta Center, was asked what the No. 1 issue is he would address if he were the NBA commissioner.
“I know this will not be a popular opinion in the league office, but I will continue to say it because it’s obvious; we need to play fewer games,” Kerr said before the team’s 64th game of the regular season. “We need to take 10 games off the schedule. I think it would be great for the league.”
It’s not the first time Kerr has been critical of the NBA’s scheduling. Last season, Kerr called out the NBA for scheduling an 8:45 p.m. tip-off on the front-end of a back-to-back for the Warriors.
This time in Salt Lake City, Kerr did not have to deal with an egregiously late tip-off time the night before the team travels back to San Francisco to host the Chicago Bulls. But it’s a back-to-back nonetheless, and those are not easy to navigate with an old team trying to manage its health.
“And I get it – it’s revenue and you would have to get everybody to agree to take a little less money, and that’s a really hard thing to do,” Kerr noted. “But what I know about the league, about coaching, about how hard it is to play the modern game with the pace and the space, I think it would be a more competitive and healthier league if we played fewer games.”

He has also implored that he wished PDT was something less than Healthy. FOAD.
Never gonna happen. That’s over 150 games. NBA is not gonna take that loss in revenue. A better solution would be too expand rosters so players play fewer minutes. JMHO
I implore the NBA to cut Steve Kerr and the Lizard King Adam Silver.
And the NHL is adding games.
Hell, you could even cut the first 45 minutes out of every NBA game. Most games come down to the last 3 minutes. Hell, even give each team 5 more boring-ass timeouts so they can do the parade to the freethrow line even longer. The games would still take an hour and a half to play. Oh, and call traveling.
I have a better idea. Cut 82 games off the regular season. 😴

Right....the owners will jump at the chance to expand the payroll another 20 million with no additional source of revenue. The players Union isn’t going to give concessions.
Does that include a 10% payroll reduction and 10% cheaper game tickets?
That train done left the station with Dr. J.
I think in grade school we played 10 games then a 4 game playoff.
Seems about right.
I still wouldn’t watch it.
Poor picked on millionaires. My heart bleeds. Drip. Drip
Girlie men. The NFL owners want 18 football games. The players have a better reason to take it down to 15 games with 2 byes in season. Does either league care about the players? They should care about the quality of their product-fat chance.
“The Honeymooners”. Jackie Gleason. They made only 39 episodes. Product integrity.
First time I ever agreed with Kerr on anything (not that I watch the NBA). But the owners will never do it - it would cost millions in broadcast money.
Warrior fans have been imploring Steve Kerr to stop with the 4 guard lineups, to no avail.
Next year will likely be his last.
They could cut all of them and I would watch as many as I do now.
Kerr has four players at or older than 35 years old and one player that has a rare disease affecting his availability.
He couldn’t win his division if they played 20 games.
Light years ahead of the league maybe in player age.
