You know the old saying, "Not all sinkholes are created equally?" Of course not, because it's not a saying at all. But it does ring true, and a sinkhole that was recently discovered at a golf club in England proves the point.
Davyhulme Park Golf Club, located just west of Manchester, is more than 110-years-old. And seeing what the sinkhole revealed, it's a course that was built on top of a rather impressive wine and port cellar.
After a lengthy stretch of severe rain, greenskeepers discovered the appearance of a sinkhole on the 13th hole. The staff got to work around the issue and uncovered the old cellar stocked full of booze. In the video shared by the club on its Instagram page, the cellar is believed to date back to the original manor house in which the club was built.
As you'll see in the video, we're not talking about some tiny four-by-four cellar with a handful of old wine bottles in it; this is a seriously large room.

My grandmother inherited a three story triplex, built in Stockton CA in 1888. A few years later the city abandoned the street to the railroad, so a train line ran less than 50 feet from the front door.
Over the decades it became essentially transient housing. As people would move on they’d often leave furniture and other possessions in the 1,000 sq ft basement. It was essentially a flop house by the time it was condemned by the city in 1977.
But that basement was literally stuffed to the ceiling with stuff, much having which had aged into valuable antiques. My family spent the summer cleaning song it out. We made a bunch of money, and family members till have some of the furniture. It was a fun summer
So I have some inkling of an experience like this
Uh-Oh...... Some people will be headed for major consequences / re-education.
In the new England, they must all be sennnnnnnnnsitive to the Islamofascistnazis. Islam has banned alcohol.
Will the records of the original Davyhulme Mansion and its occupants be erased from history? Will any of the Davyhulme ancestors alive today be forced to pay every Muslim reparations?
C’mon, Man!
Same here. I remember the time I was out walking, and found a Bitcoin. You can imagine how excited I was! Until my broker told me that it was fake. Bitcoins evidently aren’t real coins.
Because of heavy rain, they found the cellar full of wine and port. They don’t say if the wine was good quality wine, but as the saying goes, “any port in a storm.”
> but as the saying goes, “any port in a storm.” <
Some people are going to wine about your pun. Too bad. They can put a cork in it.
Where is the surprise here? After losing bets golfers hit the bar always 😂
.
Anothere reason to love golf.
Anthing like this under a football field? I already hate football, don’t need a new reason.
Then your broker told you “It’s fake junk. I’ll dispose of it. No use your having to do it.”
Next day you saw him driving a new car.
Biggest sinkhole since Obamacare started.
God looked down and said, “Let there be light and bring a glass.”
Over 100 years ago they only played 12 of the 18 holes. After they started the break after 12, the 2/3rds point, they toasted the last 6 holes one at a time. And then fell asleep. Darkness came. End of round. A full day.

“under a football field”
Jimmy Hoffa?
Your pun made my day.
A common ploy at gun shows for the unscrupulous. I ran into a very nice older lady at a gunshow who was carrying an original flintlock Pennsylvania rifle in excellent condition and she asked me to look at it and give an estimate of its worth.
Back then I gave her an estimate of "at least $1,500" (today it would be at least $6,000). She collapsed on the floor and after I picked her up and sat her at my table, she said that some guy had offered her $100 for it as "a piece of junk" just minutes before.
We do have scum out there.
It’s always nice to be appreciated.
