The National Guard is building a “quick reaction force” (QRF) of some 23,500 troops trained in crowd control and civil disturbance that can be ready to deploy to U.S. cities by early next year, according to a leaked memo reported by multiple outlets Wednesday.
The Oct. 8 memo, signed by National Guard Bureau Director of Operations Maj. Gen. Ronald Burkett, orders the Guard from nearly every U.S. state, Puerto Rico and Guam to train 500 service members. States with smaller populations such as Delaware will have 250 troops in its force, while Alaska will have 350 and Guam will have 100, Task & Purpose reported.
A previous Pentagon memo issued in September, and revealed by The Guardian, had mandated that the Washington, D.C., National Guard create a “specialized military police battalion” within it “dedicated to ensuring safety and public order in the Nation’s capital as the circumstances may necessitate.”
The latest document also stipulates that the Pentagon will send military trainers to the states and territories so the QRFs will be operational by Jan. 1, 2026. Each state also will be given “100 sets of crowd control equipment to be used to support this requirement,” such as Tasers, pepper spray, batons, and body shields.

Donthi Narasimha Reddy, Ph.D., visiting senior fellow at the Impact and Policy Research Institute in India, called for an independent scientific review of the country’s 90-day campaign to give free HPV vaccines to an estimated 150 million teenage girls. Citing past issues with the vaccine, including seven deaths in a previous HPV vaccine trial, Reddy said screening for cervical cancer is safer and more effective than the vaccines.
India launched a national HPV vaccination campaign for teenage girls last week, sparking outcry on social media and a critical response from public health experts, including one who called for an independent review of the campaign.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the campaign, which will target 150 million girls, on Feb. 28 in Ajmer, Rajasthan. For 90 days, government facilities across the country will offer a single dose of Merck’s Gardasil 4 vaccine, free of charge to 14-year-old girls.

The campaign launch comes 13 years after another Bill Gates-backed organization, the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), violated Indian laws to covertly test Gardasil and GSK’s Cervarix vaccine on 24,000 Indian girls ages 10 to 14.
The government suspended the project in 2010 following protests over the deaths of seven girls who took the vaccine. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health held an inquiry into the issue.

Trump said that it would be “wonderful” if the coalition of Iranian Kurdish forces based in Iraq were to cross into Iran to launch attacks on security forces there, and that their goal would be “to win.”
President Trump said Thursday that the U.S. will be involved in choosing the next leader of Iran, and that he would be supportive of the Kurds if they decide to launch an offensive inside of Iran.
“I think it’s wonderful that they want to do that, I’d be all for it,” the president said during an exclusive interview with Reuters.

In Banswada town in Telangana, a Muslim mob gathered in front of a department store and resorted to violence. The incident occurred on February 20, when a Hindu saleswoman at the Reliance Smart Mart store played a devotional song dedicated to the Hindu deity, Goddess Durga. A Muslim customer, Muzammil, who was at the store at the time, objected to the music and asked her to stop it, as Ramadan was ongoing.
The situation quickly deteriorated, as a massive Muslim crowd gathered outside the store and began throwing stones at it. Police efforts to calm the throng were also met with stone-throwing, leaving at least two police constables injured. Police officials have confirmed that 10 to 12 individuals have been arrested in connection with the unrest. In response, additional security forces were deployed throughout the town to stop further escalation. Authorities, who are always rushing in to safeguard Muslims, their interests, and image, warned against the spread of provocative content on social media that could incite further communal tension. Efforts were reportedly made to suppress this news, or rather, the incident did not find mention in many news reports.

As the world’s attention is fixed on the American-Israeli war on Iran, another war is raging, but getting much less attention: the war between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
At the center of the conflict is Pakistan’s accusation that the Afghan Taliban is providing safe havens for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (commonly known as the Pakistani Taliban) to launch attacks from its soil. Triggering this war was a jihad suicide bombing at a Shia mosque in Islamabad, “alongside attacks in Bajaur and Bannu,” which “prompted Islamabad to launch what it described as intelligence-based strikes on Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) targets inside eastern Afghanistan.”
Afghanistan condemned the attacks as a violation of its sovereignty; Taliban forces “initiated cross-border operations against Pakistani military positions.” When Afghan forces opened fire across the border into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Thursday, 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed, and two bases and 19 posts captured.
Pakistan in turn broadened its campaign, calling it Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, that is, Operation Righteous Fury. And the war was on.
Afghanistan says it responded to counter the attack with “anti-aircraft and missile defence systems,” and thwarted Pakistan’s attempted airstrikes on the former U.S. Bagram airbase.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar are among the countries in the region which have been trying to negotiate an end to the war.
A major shift is taking place in both South Asia and the Middle East, and Muslim-on-Muslim fighting has entered a new level: the Gulf States vs. Iran, and Pakistan vs. Afghanistan. The greatest risk is who or what jihad force will exploit this instability, as both the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic State (ISIS) did in past.
