You know the rules - and also the common sense. I have been qualified for many years to obtain CC, had the paperwork to submit; I just never really wanted to carry - partly because of the sweat and other issues that can effect gun effectiveness - the time to do it correctly and safely. But I think common sense is a big part of CC. If one is carrying and gets involved in a potentially dangerous situation, one needs to evaluate what he/she is prepared to do... to be responsible for.
One night I got a call from a neighbor about a prowler; I went out with a shotgun and located the prowler hiding under a trailer; I held him at bay. The neighbor had called the police and they showed up quickly, thank goodness. I held the shotgun at my side, butt on the ground. One officer suggested that I put the gun away. I said OK, but I am well trained in gun usage and I will hold it by my side until the present situation is under full control. Within minutes all was well and I immediately removed the weapon from the scene.
Your point about the family of Pretti is good. They were way too tolerant given his habitual behavior; they should have been more worried about his safety. Also, if ICE had detained Pretti for identification and possession of a firearm, and the local police were doing their job, Pretti might have been warned about carrying a weapon to dangerous situations. The failures in this case are are legion.
There’s still something missing about Prettiboy’s basic condition. He had to be hopped up on something in both cases. In terms of hand-to-hand combat or basic fighting the guy had a zero skill set. In each case as soon as he got irritated he just went spastic, throwing arms, kicking, gyrating in every direction. Who clearly thinks kicking a tail light will win the argument? Maybe an autopsy will give some chemistry dope?
You are an amazing Renaissance Man!
You are indeed a renaissance man! and incredible things you’ve gone through. Hub has a CC permit and carries whenever he goes anywhere, including on our property, as mountain lions have been spotten nearby lately. OR allows open carry.
