Its the barrel, the slide is locked open, during a cycling action the barrel tilts and locked open it’s in that position.
The latest “defense” is that the pistol is a Sig P320 - which allegedly has a history of “uncommanded discharges”.
Scenario - First round was Accidental Discharge while weapon was being seized/recovered. After first discharge, officer reacted by neutralizing perceived threat. This could explain delay between first shot and follow up shots.
