Interesting. I read the linked article, well presented. Ironically, I have two 1 pound packs of cacao on the shelf; I was taking it every day for some time.
I don't remember why I stopped taking it - and now I don't remember why I was taking it in the first place. I suspect that I stopped taking it due to the magnesium; magnesium has a laxative effect and I was undergoing extensive testing and treatment for about 30 years of diarrhea at the time, frequent ambulance trips to the ER for nausea and dehydration.
Speaking of 'irony', I am on an opioid medicine for pain relief in my lower back right now so that, for perhaps the first time in my life, I am experiencing constipation❗😄 So perhaps the magnesium would now be helpful, along with other natural aids.
I can't remember how I used to prepare the cacao powder or what time of day I usually consumed it. If you like you could PM me with how you use it.
Thanks for the timely tip! 👌
Opiods cause constipation in most people...btdt, toss-up between the back pain and the abdomen pain.
I just checked - dutched cocoa (the kind that tastes good) also has magnesium, I was hoping it might have less, so easier for you to take.
One of my very favorite snacks is cottage cheese, fresh blueberries, and a spoonful of raw cacao nibs (nibs, not the powder). It tastes like a chocolate chip desert and is high protein.
