I watched Wards, Sears, Dillards and Macy’s closing. These were connections back to childhood that are gone. There is a sense of grief associated with it. It has also become harder to go and actually look at merchandise now. J.C. Penny (amazingly) and Walmart are still around.

Still have a Macy’s (no sure for how long) and Kohls still open by us.

As of August of last year there was 1 operating Sears still in California, in a Mall in Concord.

I remember my father noting that “Walmart” was just a cheap play on the words “Walgreens” and “K-mart”. Not exactly true, but the similarity didn’t hurt.
