The FDA is responsible for ensuring the safety of about 80% of the U.S. food supply, including fruits, vegetables, processed foods, dairy and most seafood. According to GAO, foodborne illnesses sicken “millions of Americans” each year and causes thousands of deaths.

According to U.N. officials, the organization learned of the withdrawals through media reports and White House social media posts, with no formal notification delivered directly to U.N. leadership.
The list of abandoned initiatives reportedly includes major programs focused on promoting radical left-wing ideology, all funded primarily by American tax dollars.
