I always (well, maybe just most of the time) felt/believed that teaching was my vocation rather than a job. Although I miss it and my students, it was time - despite my pre-coof thinking that I would stay at least until I hit 65 (not mph😁). There’s something about that “generational gap”!
During my last stretch, Auburn University placed interns (student teachers) with me for 12 of those 15 years - fall of 2019, I was responsible for two - we worked as a team! Of the interns assigned placement in my classroom, 2 of them did NOT make it past me and did not graduate from the AU math ed. program. The others were fantastic! I keep up with them through texts, Facebook, etc., and every one of those women has developed into exceptional middle school and/or high school math teachers💖
