Time for the eastern counties of New Mexico to rejoin Texas. Upon admission to the Union, Texas ceded the lands west and north of the current state boundaries to the Federal government. A possibility would be for Texas to swap El Paso County, which is closer culturally to New Mexico for Lea, Chaves, and other Eastern New Mexico counties, all basically extensions of West Texas.

That was the plan for the Navajos fifty years ago to improve Navajo life, but then the American Indian Movement(AIM) hit Farmington and Shiprock over the Fairchild Plant closing and it was all shut down. Still a hot, DRY reservation. I was there.
