That sounds good in principle but becomes unworkable at some point.

Texas has early voting. It is in person with a required ID. It allows working people a chance to vote before or after work during the week. Imagine the chaos of every working person trying to vote between 6pm and 7pm on a T uesday. That chaos will deter many from even attempting to vote.

Limited early voting coupled with in-person application for an absentee ballot provides a good mix of security and participation.

There should no early voting, but have absentee voting.

Same day voting worked before they computerized it.
Plus you knew who won that night or the next morning
