Donald Trump has doubled down on his attacks on Rob Reiner after the Hollywood star and his wife were apparently murdered.
The President appeared to blame Reiner and Michele's killings on the liberal director's 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' in a Monday post on Truth Social.
Hollywood celebrities and Republicans pushed back on his statement, with some calling it 'disgusting and vile.'
But the President seemed undeterred in his criticism of the late director.
When pressed by a reporter in the Oval Office about his previous statement, he said: 'Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person. As far as Trump was concerned.
'I think he hurt himself, career-wise, he became like a deranged person, [with] Trump derangement syndrome. So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all, in any way shape or form. I thought he was very bad for our country.'
Trump also accused Reiner of pushing the 'Russia hoax', the allegation that the President was compromised by the Kremlin during his first term.
He wrote that Reiner, a 'once very talented movie director and comedy star,' passed away, 'reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease' known as TDS - or Trump Derangement Syndrome. The term is used by conservatives to describe disdain for the Republican President.
Trump's post continued: 'He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness.'
The vicious statement about the couple's death highlighted Trump's tendency to attack public figures following their passing. The Republican has also ridiculed the late Senator John McCain and General Colin Powell after they died.

Trump’s unnecessary comments may throw meat to a portion of his base but when you need half the country to vote with us in the midterms he’s squandered an opportunity, again.
When I began receiving benefits, I filled out a tax form to have 15% of my SS benefit taxed each month. It's been that way since I began getting benefits in 2006, and I've always got a refund. Last year was a bigger refund than I had the year before. I complete the SS worksheet each year to see what amount of my SS benefits are taxable. The deduction in the Big, Beautiful Bill will reduce the amount of my SS benefits that are taxable.

That's not what your enemies think. For decades I've watched the right chase the left around with fly swatters when we should have been using belt fed weapons. Then came Trump! This too will pass.
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were also in an important struggle that could result in being hanged; yet, they behaved like gentlemen at all times, refraining from such crude behavior. Trump should be a gentleman.

I have disagreed with President Trump on several occasions and on several posts on X, However - my support of him does not waiver. He loves this country and is keeping his promises unlike every other President we have had (even Reagan). He does this while a supposedly Republican Congress fights him at every turn and demon rats stand in his way and call him all sorts of foul names.
To whine about some stupid tweet he makes is ridiculous. Who cares if “soft” supporters don’t like it? I certainly don’t.
You (in the general, not specific sense) either support the President or not…he’s not our dad, brother, boyfriend or friend….it matters not that he did a little obnoxious post about the VILE and FOUL Reiner.

Trump wrote this morning that what happened to Rob Reiner and his wife Michele was a very sad thing and may they rest in peace.
He didn’t celebrate his death.
He did say how he felt about the man who hated him with every ounce of his being and influenced millions of people to hate him also.
Those people pretending that what Trump said or what Trump supporters have said is anything even remotely comparable to what the deranged left said about Charlie Kirk, are delusional.
Rob Reiner spewed hatred for Trump and MAGA every day, spreading lie after like to millions and millions of people, including the Russia Russia Russia hoax.
You don’t get to be evil and then be fondly remembered by those you spent about a decade attacking.
