Somalis do not celebrate Christmas because the country is predominantly
Muslim and has banned public Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.
The Somali govt has stated that these are not Islamic holidays
and has directed security agencies to stop any public gatherings.
However, foreigners can celebrate in their private homes,
and celebrations are allowed in places like UN compounds.
