Maybe the cat was struggling and the eagle dropped it to try to kill it. Cat Lovers-I am just the messenger.

I live in North Carolina.
One day I was sitting on my back porch, and I saw a hawk swoop down beside my deck. He then flew off with a cat in his talons. The cat was screaming bloody murder. The hawk took his snack into a nearby oak tree.

Are you suggesting cats migrate?
Not at all. They could be carried.
What? An Eagle carrying a cat?
It could grip it by the husk…
It’s not a question of where he grips it it’s a simple question of weight ratios. A five-ounce bird could not carry a five-pound cat.

Well...would have been fun to hear British natural historian David Attenborough narrate that scene. I can hear it in my head now. lol.

Bald eagle took a cat I had fifteen years ago. Had a good life ( the cat) up until that point.

Clearly, the cat let the eagle go when he got too high. Actual truth: The car killed the cat OR the cat was already dead before the eagle let go. Cats can survive being dropped at any height. The terminal velocity of a cat which is able to right itself is slow enough that cats can fall from any height and, with a little luck, remain uscathed.

In 2019, a large catfish crashed through a woman's windshield in North Carolina after reportedly getting dropped by a flying bald eagleSome bald eagles just aren't interested in snacks like cats and fish. Some just use cats and fish to land a larger meal. They think to themselves, "If I pull this off, I'll eat like a king."

Our missing cat is almost 20 lbs. There are Bald Eagles in the area. I hope we can locate him and bring him home soon.

We have a 16 lb cat that loves to spend time on our deck near where eagles roam...and we are very wary of them. HE probably would kill an eagle, tho...he put me in hospital for 3 nights with one claw.

I’ve seen birds to that with snakes in Florida - they pick up the snake - drop it - pick it up again and drop it a second time so they’re not fighting the thing all the way back to the nest.
