What is going on in Virginia? Is there something in the water there?
An assistant school principal from Virginia Beach and his brother were arrested for plotting to shoot police and ICE agents. Apparently, someone overheard the brothers talking about it in a restaurant and snitched on them.
How many more people out there are talking about doing things like this, who haven’t been caught?

At a hearing Thursday, both men were each granted $25,000 bond and are not allowed to have contact with each other. Both will be monitored by GPS and are being represented by different lawyers, who maintain they were just two brothers having a conversation and joking around.
The defense also claimed that the trip to Vegas mentioned by Mark Bennett was a previously planned trip to an F1 race with his son.
I have to wonder if the cops get search warrants for their phones, internet history, chats etc.
I disagree. I know folks who were rational , common sense pragmatic people before Trump was elected. My mother for instance. Of course there were always nutjobs before Trump but since his rise , there is a new level of insanity and it only gets worse for them the longer he leads. Im old enough to remember when late night programming has actual writing instead of bashing the Pres every single episode- low hanging fruit. People are now fighting law enforcement to prevent criminals from being removed? Middle aged white women resisting “fascism”? Trump has put these folks into another stratosphere of brokeness.
They go into education because the remain fundamentally children emotionally their entire lives.

I do not believe that Trump did this by himself, and if he were gone tomorrow, the descent into madness that you describe would not stop.
There is a shifting tide in the culture which is invalidating the classic "liberal" and "progressive" identities. People get very upset when everything they have chosen to believe is being rejected all around them. That is especially true if they feel that they used to be in charge or allied with people who used to be in charge.
Quite simply, the "progressive" beliefs do not work, they have never worked, and the domination of the progressives for the last 100 years or so in the popular culture has caused a great deal of ruin. We have run out of prosperity and safety margins to cover for that ruin. The same conditions are visible in many other countries too.
Living standards are in obvious decline for most people in Western countries and no amount of gaslighting or propaganda can disguise that. Too many people have rejected or lost faith in the powers-that-be and are casting about for something else that might work. It is unsettling for everybody.
We could do much worse than Donald Trump as President. And after Trump, we probably will do much worse. An extremely authoritarian executive is in our future after 2028. I am uncertain whether that will be a right-wing American nationalist or a left-wing communist. Either way, the opposition will likely be unhinged and inclined to violent resistance.
