Not wise.
He just made himself the prime suspect if something "unfortunate" happens to the perp.

He should start a diary and keep track of
where he is at all times so he can find his alibi.

He would have been a prime suspect regardless.
As soon as Any detective of prosecutor sees that the murder victim has a criminal history, that’s what they dig in to.
What is worse about all this is, if the father of the murdered son kills the murderer, he will probably get put away for longer than 8 years, because that’s just how our justice system works these days
“He just made himself the prime suspect if something “unfortunate” happens to the perp.”
I’ve reminded several people over the years that Perry Mason is dead. People make stupid statements like this all the time. Very rarely does anyone act on them, which is why the police don’t proactively arrest people for spouting off stupid things. Then, occasionally, someone says I’m going to kill so and so, and they do it and everyone says, “Why wasn’t he arrested?” Because “justice” is reactive. If it was proactive everyone with an IQ below room temperature, roughly half the population, would be in prison.
“Shoot! Shovel! Shut Up!”
