I was in the hospital over Christmas. There were almost no English speakers on staff. Two Pilipino women nurses, both sporting badges announcing they were RNs came in to hook up an IV. The one in charge looked around to see if anyone would overhear. She then instructed the other one how to insert a needle. The second “nurse” was terrified, obviously she’d never stuck a needle in anyone before. It was an ordeal and finally, the first nurse got it in and hooked up.

My guess, they were related, and the real nurse had vouched for a younger sister. Later, the lack of anyone who could understand English almost got me killed.

The fraud seemed fairly obvious, but if the person hiring had spoken their language or they’d spoken English, it would have been obvious. My guess is the hospital needed bodies and weren’t too concerned whether they were qualified.

Knock wood From what I read, I do not want to have an extended hospital stay.
Hoping my N Alabama location is not yet overrun with marginal healthcare workers...

But the specialist at my ENT swears the Huntsville hospitals are in it for the cash, cut all corners, pay off the inspectors & local media, etc. Here’s to hoping he is wrong or at least exaggerating.

Sounds like my hospital in NJ.

It’s all over the country in every hospital and nursing home.

Jabbering Third World mutts everywhere.
