America needs more people like this lady. Let's welcome them.
Yeah....that nonsense started in 2020.
I think there’s a big difference between a Black comedian making certain statements in a comic routine and a majority White political website constantly posting racist wisecracks about Black people. To not see a difference is ingenuous.
You must hang out in different threads than I hang out on.
I’m not sure what you mean when you say “just like this original post here”. Are you talking about your post, or are you talking about the post about the woman who gave a great answer to “What kind of black woman are you?”
In this thread I saw people praising this black woman and saying our country needs more people like her. It became a thread about how bad FR is when you said that the very good-will that was present here is not to be found on FR because there is no compassion for black and brown people here.
Way to hijack the thread. It was a place praising a conservative black woman and became something else, just because of your post. Well done. (/s)
I am just trying to wake people up to the fact that when we act like “they” want us to act then we are being manipulated and brainwashed. They are winning and we are losing if we do this.
Trust me, they had me on that same leash too until I wised up. I fight so hard for this because I have 12 Grandchildren and the way we are doing it no is NOT going to get our Republic back for them.
If we fall for the division trap then our own IQ absolutely needs to be questioned. Even mine if I was ignorant enough to fall for the brainwashing.
I am not immune to it and have to fight it myself daily to keep from falling into the trap myself. And that is exactly what I am doing right here right now...
Now, just a moment there missy!
I find that statement offensive!
Jew-hate is a gateway drug.
Goethe:
“Die ich rief, die Geister,
Werd’ ich nun nicht los”
“The spirits that I summoned
I am unable to rid myself of them again”.
Well said.
I think part of what people deal with is that all that’s left for most people to do is to notice. They can’t give any suggestions and can’t do anything to fix things. So they make a point of noticing. Sometimes in what seems a mocking way.
Cletus, I would appreciate your perspective on this, if you’re willing. If not, forget I said anything. We all know you are conservative so I don’t think you’d be accused of being a liberal regardless of what you say. Do you find the “Is it them, Yogi?” and “gibs-me-dats” language offensive? Does that seem disrespectful to all black people (and do you care if the word “black” is capitalized?), or does it seem more like it’s referring to a sub-culture within the black community?
When it comes to these issues, I’d really like a chance to just listen because I honestly don’t know what most black people think about some things.
“In this thread I saw people praising this black woman and saying our country needs more people like her.”
That is EXACTLY RIGHT! And it is GREAT! But it is RARE because posts praising the efforts of other races are usually met with hostility or completely ignored. The silence is just as telling as the derogatory comments.
Yes. I’m praying with you; I do believe that only God can rescue us.
I appreciate your reasonable and winsome posts.
“Somebody called me out on capitalizing the word ‘black’.”
That issue has been discussed more than a few times here. I admit to being one of those FReepers who have “called out” the woke capital-b black usage.
“Some of us have made a point of calling out racist remarks here precisely because we don’t want to be seen publicly as sharing them.”
Besides the fact that we can not claim our cause is truly righteous if we are lying hypocrites and not truly righteous.
We are just shooting ourselves in the foot...
Have you tried speaking either privately or publicly to the posters you’ve actually seen do the things you don’t like? You’re painting all of us with the same brush. Do you regularly call out these people on the threads where you see these comments?
I haven’t seen any posts like that on this thread. Maybe some of those who have offended you are lurking and have seen the comments by you and by others agreeing they are uncomfortable with the Yogi/Boo-boo etc comments, and maybe they will stop. Otherwise, it seems you are preaching to the choir.
The thread did bring up whether to capitalize the word “black”, but I don’t think you commented on that or anything else substantive and non-criticism-related.
lol. Perfect response! I love it.
“Have you tried speaking either privately or publicly to the posters you’ve actually seen do the things you don’t like? You’re painting all of us with the same brush. Do you regularly call out these people on the threads where you see these comments?”
YES I HAVE! I have called it out at least fifty times or more since I have been here and was stoned and burned at the stake for even trying to every time just like you are right now...
The calls for me to be banned because of it are deafening at times. I am HATED here because I call out the truth. TRUTH IS NOT POPULAR HERE AT ALL! Self reflection and looking in the mirror is the only thing even more unpopular...
In fact... Other than myself, ViLaLuz has been the only one who has had the righteous courage to do this here in years.
I’ve seen numerous people calling it out.
I’m afraid we’ve probably lost some people because of it, too; or because of that and the level of general unpleasantness that takes place.
Again, some have reservations about being associated with a site where so much of that is posted. Racism completely aside, the way some people ‘talk’ to others with whom they disagree can get very ugly.
WTH are you trying to prove, how pure YOU are?
I agree that we need to be careful not to take the bait they keep giving us. And I also fight for the sake of my grandchildren. Seeing your posts makes me take back my earlier suggestion that you’re trolling. I see the point that you are making.
I do want to address the whole IQ/intelligence thing though. I think you get the reactions you do partly because you talk a lot about your own intelligence as if you are smugly superior to other posters. And that doesn’t fly because that is the attitude that all the leftist professors/pundits/media show too - having contempt for the uneducated “rubes” who would vote for Trump. When people call you a liberal it may be a reaction to the superior attitude they sense - the same attitude that created cancel culture among the “woke”.
I’ll give some background here. I was valedictorian of my class. I have a son who is extremely smart; pretty much aced the ACT. My husband struggled in school but told God he would be a pastor if God allowed him to have the money and the grades to make it through seminary. He did and was a pastor for 20 years. Then he got dementia. The last 4 years of his life my name was the only word he could say. I spent a lot of time talking with my very intelligent son who is on the autism spectrum, about how our brain is not the same thing as who we are. Even with his cognitive ability all gone, my husband had a beautiful soul that was so full of love. And he was free from all the baggage and hubris regarding his own smarts or abilities. He was free to just be who he was, and it was so beautiful, so refreshing.
Since his diagnosis 10 years ago and his death 2 1/2 years ago I have had “widow’s brain”. I can feel my own inability to speak, think, and process things that have always been easy for me. I don’t know if I was poisoned like he was but I very much feel my own decline. Before seeing what happened with my husband I would have been terrified of this, but through it all I’ve learned that cognitive ability is over-rated. For all the wisdom I thought I had, it turns out that I’ve mostly been a fool but God loves me anyway and is working all things for my good whether I understand what He’s doing or not. Life has a way of instilling humility.
The state of our country and its people is not really about intelligence. Some of the smartest people get it so wrong and some of the less-gifted get it so right. What we’re dealing with is two-pronged, I believe. It is a matter of whether we hear truthful information, and it is a matter of where our heart is in relation to the Lord. The media lies, and many good people are deceived. At the same time, there are many whose hearts are against the Lord, and in their defiance of Him they will fight against the truth even if they hear it. Satan knows that, and he is using both the beasts of Revelation (the church and government) to deceive and enslave people.
The people celebrating Charlie’s death show a depravity regardless of their intelligence or lack thereof. The issue wasn’t intelligence; the issue was they heard and believed lies and Satan used that hook to pull them away from the Lord who loves life.
In racial matters, the powers-that-be (Satan and his minions) are like Gandalf in “The Lord of the Rings”, who got the trolls to argue about the best way to prepare hobbit meat - to distract them until the sun rose on them and turned them to stone. Satan doesn’t love either blacks or whites. He just wants us to waste time fighting each other while he plunders the whole world with his lie-enabled stealing, killing, and destroying. So he uses anything he can to get us to not really hear each other, so that much-needed correction and encouragement don’t happen.
You want to correct what you see as racism. I think your point has been made. Almost everyone has affirmed that we want to engage with people of all races and not deliberately do anything that would put a stumbling block in their way.
Others want to keep the “racism” accusations from obfuscating the substantive issues. I think their point has been made, although I’m not sure you recognize that accusations of “racism” are also a way that Satan divides and distracts us from addressing real issues. That, too, can be a trap we must avoid.
Only God knows what is in the heart of the posters, which is fine because really He is the only One who can either encourage or change that heart.
“Again, some have reservations about being associated with a site where so much of that is posted. Racism completely aside, the way some people ‘talk’ to others with whom they disagree can get very ugly.”
Absolutely, in general. There is an underlying sense of sadism that turns many folks off. I know you are right, there a lot of folks who are disgusted with it and have left. Too many times I have had to point out that the user that was just abused with unhinged sadism was a nice little old Lady who did not at all deserve that unhinged abuse.
See, I look in the mirror and judge myself about these kind of actions because I am guilty of it myself. In fact I flew off the handle a few times and inadvertently did it myself. But NEVER out of sadistic tendencies. I even did it to you one time... And once again I apologize for that. I really did think you were someone else who had been abusing me first.
I learned more about myself from that than you can imagine... And I greatly appreciate your patience and understanding...
I don’t even remember it.
