A Long Island police chief has been stripped of his duties after screaming at a young girl to 'shut the **** up' while she was loaded into the fire truck on a stretcher.
In a TikTok video uploaded on Monday, North Babylon Fire Chief Peter Alt berated and hurled obscenities at the 10-year-old girl while she was being strapped onto a stretcher.
'Shut the **** up! It's like this with you every ******* week!' Alt shouted at the child.
As the young girl pleaded with the fire department 'I don't want to go! I want to go home,' Alt responded 'Shut your mouth!'
Alt's outburst came after the girl's family called emergency services for help with calming the child down, her grandmother told NBC New York.
The girl allegedly became emotionally overwhelmed after her phone was taken away, so another family member called the police, who had been kind to them in the past.
A concerned neighbor saw the verbal altercation and began recording.
The child's grandmother, who wished to remain anonymous, said she was not there when the incident took place, but that she was 'devastated' by how the chief handled her granddaughter.

” I suspect the child is autistic and the parents have called multiple time before. Not really the fire departments job. Sounds like the kid needs to be in an institution but we don’t do that anymore.”
The fire chief said “every week” so yea they have been called before.
I don’t know if it’s autism or if the kid is addicted to the cell phone. Yes kids are getting addicted to them just like adults are only it’s worse for them. Kids have total meltdowns after the phone is taken from them.
I used to work at a church in my small Northern Commiefornia town and we would take food to the ER not quite every day but a few times a week and even as small as our town is, we would see the same person lying on a gurney in the hallway as a room was getting prepped for him or her.
It didn't happen a whole lot but for as small as our town is, it surprised me when it did happen.
The nurses referred to them as frequent flyers.
“If the child has emotional problems, she may threaten to harm herself or get herself into situations which need fire personnel to extract her or treat her (many fire truck staff are trained paramedics).”
If this is the case then they should take her to a nervous hospital and not home. I saw the video and she’s screaming “I don’t want to go home”. Why are they taking her home?
My four year old grandson flipped out the other day because he wanted to use an exacto knife to cut out some drawings.
He learned pretty quickly that he was A. NOT going to use the Exacto knife AND B. that crying about it was not going to change A.
Perhaps this 10 year old needed some lessons like this when she was 4.
Based on the story it appears that this kid has some emotional/developmental issues that have resulted in multiple visits to the home.
Yes I know I’ve heard that term before. In the abortion industry women who come in for multiple abortions are called “frequent flyers”.
**CRINGE**
I can’t approve of what he did but I sure am willing to cut him a lot of slack.
All kids in public school have cell phones. That is on the stupid ass adults in this country of immature, communist, government following idiots
Kids need- not want- need social development tools. Face to face communication. Play time. Sports. Belonging
We are allowing cell phones to take over this as primary apparatus
You can’t take the phone away
You have to work on the entire situation and stop the nonsense
Temper tantrums are a huge problem and a separate problem.
And a huge issue
We can yell and condemn all day but we are crippling the youth
Outlaw all of this like cigarettes and booze for minors
Period.
“My four year old grandson flipped out the other day because he wanted to use an exacto knife to cut out some drawings.”
Talk about shooting a squirrel with an elephant gun.
She was not “emotionally overwhelmed”. She was throwing a tantrum. Most teachers are aware that taking a cell phone away can get you a beating.
“All kids in public school have cell phones...”
With the way public schools are today I would not send my kid to school without one!
A. I’d want to reach my kid at all times no matter what
B. The camera on those phones? Some of the things those kids have recorded is gold in proving what goes on in the schools and parents need to know. We all need to know.
Yes those phones are worth it.
Fire Chief, Police Chief, what’s the difference to modern “journalists”?
You’re sending your kid to school with a camera in order to police the possible abuse done by teachers
A 10 year old
And people expect everyone to be surprised at a 10 year old having a tantrum
That seems way off to me
Many parents are WOKE nitwits. This “lifestyle” is passed on to their children well...
Maybe if this dumbass family had disciplined this kid in the past, the cops and first responders would’t have to respond weekly to an unruly child and waste taxpayer money. This is on the family, not the fire chief
I have a friend with a child who has been diagnose with multiple malignant brain tumors since infancy. She complies with house rules right up until she grabbed a bicycle (neighbors?) and pedaled away. Her 60 year old baby sitter boldly climbed onto another child’s bike and slowly pedaled after her. The child crossed roads which normally have barreling traffic. In instances like these the baby sitter stopped and called police, but if a fire truck were closer, it would be the fire dept who intercepted her.
They were installing locks on doors but a home just isn’t as secure as a facility, and none were available. Maybe the availability may be due to the old legislation about letting the mentally ill move among us etc. That law has now changed, so funding for children that age may now be available.
The girl was able to enter a program in a home situation (8 residents mentally disabled) near here, with the family carrying many burdensome expenses, and when the child turned 18, the state took over all expenses. Each step of the way, fleets of lawyers were needed to steer the child to safe homes or services.
But I guess there just aren’t parenting options when the child is young. The child had to be adequately socialized to function on her own in a group home setting with disturbed peers and many household care givers.
I was about to defend Long Island, but then I realized you were talking about the language. You’re not wrong.
I blame the abuse of language on the removal of the Hays Code in movies back in 1969 and replaced it with a joke of a ratings system (GMRX). When that happened, to reign in “violence” in movies it instead opened the flood gates for the most vile movies ever made.
Now teens going to the movies hear their “heroes” using the most vile language and do the same.
Now it is also on TV and Satellite TV.
