A lilac shirt, sandals and shorts which match those worn by Raymond Vincent Ashcroft the day of his disappearance

Shorts and sandals for the jungle?

I've never been to Guatemala but even in Upstate NY, if one goes into the woods in summer with shorts and sandals, you'll be nearly eaten alive by insects.

Some guy from Florida took a trip up to Mount Washington in the White Mountains of NH recently.
He took the Cog railway to the top of the mountain. Then decided to go for a walk/hike. They found his remains three days later.

This happens all the time on Mount Washington. Meaning people think it is only 6M’ high. What could happen. Plus it is July. It was 85 degrees at bottom. Then the weather changes, the wind picks up and they get lost in the clouds.

Or they start out for a hike at the bottom with tee shirt, shorts and sneakers. But they brought a water bottle! Then
they get up above 5M’ and the weather changes. It starts to rain sideways and the wind picks up. Then they get lost. Then they call the mountain rescue on the cell phone.

I’ve been there. Not a good idea to wander off into the jungle; there are jaguars and fer-de-lances and who knows what else. If you’re in shorts and sandals, stay on the trails.
