Why did they give him eight months warning? Contract? He is likely to go full crazy and get msnbc level ratings.
Eat up the contract and fire him immediately.
CBS will probably have to do that anyway because Colbert is not going to follow the rules. Then CBS will have another lawsuit.
Ratings are the least of the worries CBS should have by letting him hang around as a loose cannon, as he has clearly stated he intends to do. CBS could find themselves embroiled in another costly lawsuit that scuttles the Skydance deal. Better to payoff his contract & staffers than to risk the deal. Open the Paramount film vault & show classics in the late night slot for essentially no cost with no added risk.
Is there a boycott of his sponsors?
I’ve never watched his show even one time.
I think they expected this and will be able to fire him for cause and save even more money.
