“After the meeting, DNI Clapper’s Executive Assistant sent an email to IC [intelligence community] leaders tasking them with creating a new IC assessment “per the President’s request” that details the “tools Moscow used and actions it took to influence the 2016 election.” It went on to say, “ODNI will lead this effort with participation from CIA, FBI, NSA, and DHS.”
Let us pray that Gabbard already possesses recordings and/or sworn statements from others present at the meeting to corroborate that Obama truly made this request, and did so without some figleaf qualification (e.g., “do everything by the book”). I hope also that she keeps the corroborating evidence under wraps until various scoundrels have denied the facts publicly and in sworn interviews.
Without corroboration, Clapper writing, “per the President’s request” in a message to others is hearsay; Obama can deny ever saying it, or imply that Clapper either misunderstood him or is to blame for excessive zeal in his desire to protect the country.
