The Wall Street Journal welcomed FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino to the “rotten establishment” in a new editorial about the ongoing MAGA civil war over the Trump administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.
On Sunday night, a Department of Justice and FBI memo concluding that Epstein did, in fact, commit suicide and there was “no incriminating ‘client list'” or “credible evidence … that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals” was reported on by Axios to the dismay of many of President Donald Trump’s biggest fans.
“I’m going to go throw up actually. And this only happens every few years when something really, really bad happens or something,” said conspiracy theorist Alex Jones in a reaction video to the memo on Monday. “I mean, I’m physically gonna puke, probably right now.”
“How come Blondi [Attorney General Pam Bondi] didn’t sign her name to her own memo about the Epstein Files? She needs to resign. This is going to suppress the vote in 2026,” wrote Laura Loomer on X. “The American people and MAGA base will not tolerate being lied to. I hope President Trump fires Pam Blondi if she lacks the SHAME to resign. I called for her resignation the day of Binder Gate. 5 months later and Blondi is still an abomination. Epstein raped kids on her watch when she was FL AG. Is this what this is about? Her horrendous professional record?”
The Journal kicked off its editorial on the subject by observing that “These are boom times for conspiracy theorists, and one problem is they’re never satisfied.”
“There’s always another coverup to unravel, or another hidden file somewhere that the evil establishment is hiding. That’s what Trump Justice Department officials are learning to their dismay now that they’re trying to close the books on the prosecution and death of Jeffrey Epstein,” it continued.
After summarizing the DOJ memo, the influential center-right newspaper concluded that “There’s a lesson here for partisans who think they can ride conspiracies to power. They can easily boomerang on you once you’re in a position to see the real evidence and then have to convince a public that doesn’t trust anyone in power. Welcome to the rotten establishment, Mr. Patel and Mr. Bongino.”
My guess is that enough Republican Congress critters are on the list to alter the majority in democrats favor, so they feel they have to back down, plus other very influential men on the world stage must also be on the list. It’s disgusting to think that Trump’s presidency can be compromised by the need to protect scum bags, in order to keep the majority in Congress. Anyway, that’s my opinion.
On the other side, of course, is the magical cameras that don't work at the exact times that they are needed, that someone on suicide watch was easily and quickly able to commit suicide, and that many girls have already given their stories about the parties...
I'm very disappointed in Bongino for the utterly pathetic "we will release the videos just as soon as we have "cleaned them up", so that nobody will ever trust what the "new and improved FBI" will ever release.
This divisive “civil war” is being fought by only a small numberer of partisans who love to attack the motives of those who have other, equally beneficial priotities.
I have a feeling there are some “very important people” who would be outted...and that is why this is such a mess
I am not going to excuse this cover up... I am not surprised by it, but I am not going to rationalize it away.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Epstein was a CIA asset.. whether he was from the start, or later recruited after they found out what he was doing, is debatable.
However, you don’t get a slap on the wrist and house arrest for child rape if you don’t have very powerful people protecting you. Epstein molested a 14 year old girl, was charged with multiple counts of unlawful sex with a minor and the grand Jury came back with only a “soliciting of prostitution” charge.
Like I said, I will not rationalize away this betrayal, but I am also not surprised by it either.
From the growing magnitude of this, I’m dreading the next “Squirrel!” distraction that’s inevitable unless Trump gets this quickly under control. The “Squirrel!” is going to have to be massive!
Of course there are, and they will be on all sides of the political aisle....
You really believe for one second that rich and powerful people won’t take teenage boys or girls if given the opportunity? You think ones political beliefs will prevent you from doing it?
Cuba has been notorious since the revolution for this, get western politicians to visit, offer them up teenagers for sex, then use those pictures as blackmail. And do you think the US/CIA wouldn’t happily do the same thing?
Sure the CIA might make sure the girls aren’t being DIRECTLY supplied by them, but you better believe they’ll do it.
Yep, and this involved more than sex, he probably got carried away with that aspect of this and they had no choice but to jail him. To reveal the entire operation would risk sources and methods and perhaps national security operations. I trust Patel and Bongino, if this needs to be covered up, then so be it.
Sorry, I don’t trust either of them. They have made their choices.
I am not surprised, but do not think for one second that they have an ounce of credibility left.
As usual, everybody out of the loop screaming for evidence already “knows” everything. No evidence needed then.
Good post—you summarized my views on this.
The Epstein list/tapes/photos are too useful to release.
I’m not saying bribery, but, well, an imagined REAL threat is as good as an actual threat.
Too many Republican votes to lose. TRUMP NEEDS THOSE VOTES!
Its as simple as that folks.
You wish.
Trump 🇺🇸
I have not seen such spinning since OJ’s attorneys were holding press conferences.
Lol.
I think you are closer to the truth. I also believe there was a “client” list but not a “blackmailer” list. Epstein most likely was tied to a bank/investment house. The “client” list would be the bank’s proprietary/private property.
When Blondi said it was “on my desk” my immediate thought was she is talking out her a*s. That just isn’t true. She could have said anything like we are meeting about it soon or whatever. The “on my desk” was a major F’up. It insinuated, I know stuff and it’s coming soon.
That’s not “parsing”. A flight manifest isn’t a client list. A contact list isn’t a client list. A client is a customer. Someone you have a relationship with involving services or consultation. Someone compensating you. Trump flying on Epstein’s planes several times doesn’t make him a client. Many “lists” of people who interacted with Epstein, including flying on his plane, have been released.

Your rationalization is that corruption is excusable if it fits political needs.

This is exactly what I am trying to say. There isn’t a ‘client’ list, but there are lists. People want to see the ‘lists’, and that’s what they expected. I call that ‘parsing’.
It needs the votes of the Republicans on the list and chief Justice, John Roberts cooperation
Otherwise, the administration is toast
Pretty much what I was thinking. The actual list is sure to contain many folks useful for implementing Trump's agenda. He now has real leverage.
Just my thoughts. We certainly live in interesting times.
