——>Sunday worship is apostolic (Acts 20:7)
Nope. “Quod probat nimis, probat nihil” 🤣🤣🤣😆😆
O’KEEFE: And the apologists for the change of day call attention to Acts 20:7: “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread,” etc. the application of the axiom in logic, “Quod probat nimis, probat nihil” (What proves too much, proves nothing), puts a quietus on this text when I introduce words from the Acts: “ And they continuing daily . . . in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house,” etc., (2:46) which shows that this was a daily practise which is claimed in this instance for Sunday.
GIBBONS: Once more, the Biblical apologists for the change of day call our attention to the Acts, chapter 20, verses 6 and 7; “And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread.” etc. To all appearances the above text should furnish some consolation to our disgruntled Biblical friends, but being a Marplot, we cannot allow them even this crumb of comfort. We reply by the axiom: “Quod probat nimis, probat nihil”- “What proves too much, proves nothing.” Let us call attention to the same, Acts 2:46; “And they, continuing daily in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house,” etc. Who does not see at a glance that the text produced to prove the exclusive prerogative of Sunday, vanishes into thin air—an ignis fatuus—when placed in juxtaposition with the 46th verse of the same chapter? What the Biblical Christian claims by this text for Sunday alone the same authority, St. Luke, informs us was common to every day of the week; “and they, continuing daily in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house.”
Phil, Prince of Dim Light, your Adventist sneer at Acts 20:7 with “Quod probat nimis, probat nihil” and O’Keefe/Gibbons’ quotes, mocking Sunday worship as apostolic, is a feeble dodge rooted in Ellen G. White’s anti-Catholic venom. It's laughable how easy the lies of Adventism come out.
| Error | Details | Refutation |
|---|---|---|
| False Prophecies | White’s 1856, 1844, 1845 flops. | Deuteronomy 18:22 |
| Investigative Judgment | Denies atonement (*The Great Controversy*, p. 421-422). | Hebrews 9:12 |
| Sabbath Idolatry | Salvific Sabbath unsupported. | Colossians 2:16-17 |
Phil, your “Quod probat nimis” trick is shredded—Acts 20:7 proves Sunday’s apostolic root, not your daily-meal fallacy. Adventism’s evils—White’s false prophecies, heretical judgment, and Sabbath idolatry—mark it as satanic. Produce one New Testament verse mandating Saturday worship. You can’t. Repent, ditch White’s trash, and flee to Christ’s Church (Ephesians 2:8-9). Wipe that laugh off—face truth.
