ICE, FBI, local police breaking into a house 4 doors away, gossip is that it's an ICE raid. Walked by, told a local cop to stay safe, he said thanks. Farming community, LOTs of field workers here every year for over 100 years.
It’s all good, not sure what they are after in the house. Put up photo of the action on local gossip site monitored by city council member who lives nearby. Hoping he’ll put up some more news.
You're right. Illegals come here, move to democrat states and cities, start collecting benefits, then work under the table cheap.

Contractor who was referred to us by our cabin manufacturer turned out to hire mostly illegal aliens to do the work. substandard, NOT to code, not to plans, lead carpenter was functionally illiterate, couldn’t even read blueprints. Wasted thousands of dollars in lumber doing and redoing stair stringers and building an enclosed stairwell where the plans clearly showed open right for a stair case he said he didn’t SEE on the plans (see inset D page 4), used 3” deck screws to fasten deck roof trusses to OSB sheathing without any other connection, all kinds of dimensional screwups we only found out after firing the contractor who was also stealing materials and double billing (invoiced for $519 for metal flashing was also inside a receipt line item for Home Depot for the same material as one example).
AFTER his sons QUIT two months into the project, he took over and the crew only came out just enough hours every 60 days to meet minimum progress so we couldn’t say he wasn’t doing the job. lawyers and structural engineers disagreed with him but we were both blessed AND cursed by the fact his feckless kid never did get us a copy of a signed (by us) contract. There just wasn’t one. Poof. No contractor.
It’s taken me 2-1/2 years part time driving from Maryland to Tennessee 10-15 times a year for 1-6 weeks at a time to arrange electrical, drywall, flooring, plukmbing tile, roofer, landscape and other professionals to get the house to the point we moved in six weeks ago and there’s STILL about 3 months’ work left to do.

we keep LOTS of guns handy, security cameras and dogs.

Thirty years ago I had friends who worked construction.
But young Americans are discriminated against these days so they look for other jobs.

So they come and go with the harvest? Sounds like they're following the law for seasonal agricultural workers...if they're foreigners.
They come early spring for trimming and are around until fall when the last of the harvests happen. This area sends peaches to 36 states last I heard. There are over 30 wineries. We “know” a lot of them who have come for years, wave when they come by on tractors, etc. Some are father and son duos...
They aren’t known for problems, locals in a nearby larger town are the problem bunch, drugs/theft etc..
Like I said, the ones you mention appear to be lawful seasonal workers.

If so, the polling must be bad for them. I’d almost rather they did not, at least until the mid-terms.
