I voted for him in the primary in 2000. He brought a lot of Christian character to the presidential race. And then George W. Bush who was the chosen one by the party honchos said "Christ, he changed my heart" during the Republican candidates forum and that's all it took for a lot of thoughtless evangelicals to sign onto Bush.
Keyes was the most devout Christian running in that contest. His party did its damndest to destroy his chances. And so we got eight years of Bush the Lesser.
It would have been a much better America had Alan Keyes become president.
I wrote in Alan Keys in the 2008 presidential race. Wouldn’t dream of voting for RINO McCain.

I would have been more than happy had Alan Keyes defeated the Kenyan in the Illinois Senate race. He was the only one who would take on Obama in that contest after the Sun Times published a previously sealed divorce proceeding of then candidate Ryan who would have been much more competitive and possible victorious. Sending Obama back to the “Mens club” on N. Clark Street and his community organization “job” would have saved America a lot of grief !! Since that race, I have not heard anything of Alan Keyes until these posts.
I voted for him in ‘92. I had to write in his name, but I could not vote for HW because I did not trust his ‘stand’ on abortion.
Great memories of Alan Keyes! We had the privilege of hosting him at our house when we still lived in Champaign, Illinois, when he was running for US Senate.
