About six years ago my 19 year old son was reluctant to watch this because it was an “old movie”. When the Bluesmobile went through the shopping mall wall he just lost it. He showed my VHS tape to a bunch of his friends shortly after and they were rolling all the way through it. A true classic of comedy.
We lived in Chicago when BB was being filmed. There were frequent news stories about it, like when the car drove off the parking garage.
One story I heard was that they contracted to drive through the mall (which was going bankrupt) and then they would restore it. Only they never restored it!
I shared this masterpiece with my kids a little earlier, ages 13-14 ish. When the Sister at the Orphanage scene launched naughty words I had not remembered, my teenagers looked over to see at me if I was going to stop the show.
I declared it a classic piece of art and literature so therefore worthy of study. They loved it. It is a treasure.
