AI exec on Fox last night said they trained DeepSeek using ChatGPT.

When DeepSeek was asked “Who are you?” It replied “I am ChatGPT.”

Or Hollywood - their only ‘ism’ is plagiarism. Sometimes banal, sometimes brilliant. DeepSeek, or as we call it ChatCCP, is both. And whether it cost $6 million or $36 million, it performs as advertised, and also couldn’t exist without ChatGPT to plagiarize from. Note ChatGPT didn’t pay for most of “their” data, while DeepSeek may have paid market rates for access to ChatGPT, although I haven’t seen that info.

At any event, it’s about 95% as ‘useful’ as ChatGPT, and can be dropped into a computer that doesn’t have access to the Internet. This means the Chinese will only be able to spy on entities that run DeepSeek using internet-connected servers.
