“camel’s milk typically costs more than cow’s milk”

Gee, I wonder why.

Duh...it takes more than five camels to get the same amount of milk you get from one cow (5 l milk/camel-day versus 28 l milk/cow-day).

Interesting.
It calls to mind how much nutritional benefit there is in human milk. And yet so many people default to buying “formula“ for their babies.

Looks like baby camels get a great start in life.

What they don't say is that it is the acquisition of the milk that is problematic.

While dairy cows can produce up to 28 liters of milk daily, camels typically yield only about 5 liters.

There's the production sticking point. Cows produce 5.5 times more milk per day than camels.

I had some a little over 30 years ago in Kazakhstan. It was a kind of like runny yogurt.

It is still dairy.

Dairy is milk produced by a mammal.

For it to be a "dairy alternative" it would have to be made from something that was not lactated out by a mammal.

446 topics under camel/camels and dromedary/dromedaries. When I get back (sounds like a threat, heh) I’ll select a few history-related topics from the sorted list (IOW, no cigarette-related topics, nothing that’s specifically about modern topics, WOT, etc).

Remember Acidophilus milk, the rage from 40 years ago? For a few years it was everywhere! Now no where. This rage for camel milk will pass.
