If that's correct, it adds credence to the Noah flood story. The inhabitants on the Ark were Noah, his wife, his sons, and their wives. With no text in Genesis indicating biological relation among the women, it's probable that Noah's daughter-in-laws weren't related. Thus it's possible that everyone's common female ancestor has to go all the way back to Eve. But everyone's common male ancestor has to go back only as far as Adam.
