Also, as someone who wasn't alive in 1967, it mentions a lot of the female fashion from this time:
When you wear your high-heeled boots/With your hip-hugger suit
A lot of songs like one by Booker T & the MGs mention hip-hugger outfits, but I don't know what it refers to.
And you wear that cute miniskirt/With your brother's sloppy shirt
Was that a thing? pairing a miniskirt with a man's shirt? (That was 'sloppy'?)
When you wear your bell bottom pants
Of curse, I knew about bell bottom pants in the 60's and 70's which were inspired by naval trousers.
When you wear those big earrings/Long hair, and things
Any female freepers that can comment, if these sounded like common fashions in those days?
Not a woman but as a 17 year-old in 1967 I can tell you that hip-hugger pants were very popular with girls and men too, especially hip band members. Mick Jagger, John Lennon and many others can be seen wearing them in photos from that era. Hip-huggers had a low cut waist, usually worn with a big wide belt and often made of wide whale corduroy. They were part of the '60s Carnaby Street (London) look. And what can I say, I miss girls wearing big hoop earrings which were popular through the '80s.
