you believe having religious statues is the same as praying to them? So you’re against nativity scenes or does that get a pass?

But praying to statues did. Even the most ignorant Catholic knows not to "pray to statues." They know they are asking the Saint represented by the statue for their prayers, much as any Christian asks others here on earth for prayers.
