I wonder what would happen to baseball if every home run over 380 ft. counted as two runs. I suspect that baseball would, over time, become a home run derby, without any of the strategy that makes the game interesting today. That is what the three point shot has done to basketball.

Good point. The athletic contests are being engineered to keep fan interest and the bucks rolling in.
It is a worthless endeavour in the end. Ultimately, who really cares? I mean REALLY, REALLY, double-dare REALLY cares.

That’s what the TD did to football because teams crunched the numbers and saw that it worked out better if they aimed for the TD most of the time.
