Trudeau is at 23% approval, so it does make sense to round up weapons, if he intends to stay in power.

The next Canadian federal election must occur no later than October 20th, 2025. The election could occur earlier, if the Government loses a vote of confidence. It won’t occur later. The Liberals tried to extend the date by one week, to allow 80 MPs to qualify for Parliamentary pensions, and got shot down.
Trudeau and his minority Government are on borrowed time.
